  • About
This must be the king of all rice. It is grown in India at the foot of the Himalayas. Basmati is more expensive than patna and has a fine, longer grain with an almost perfumed flavour. If ever you are simply cooking some boiled or braised rice, try some basmati; it really is as good as its reputation tells us.
Rice, as I have said, has become and, in fact, always has been one of the most eaten foods. Rice cooked very simply, braised, boiled, etc. and without butter is a very healthy food to eat with very few calories.
