- Use 1 cup of rice to just under 2 cups of water (190g/6¾oz rice to 450ml/15fl oz water).
- Put the rice in a colander and rinse under cold running water until the water runs clear. Leave to drain.
- Put the rice in a saucepan and add the water. Bring to the boil, then simmer for about 10 minutes, uncovered, until almost dry with a dimpled surface.
- Cover tightly, remove from the heat and leave to stand for 15 minutes.
- Fluff up the grains with a fork.
