  • About

Lactobacillus acidophilus is a bacterium found in fresh milk. The bacterium is destroyed during pasteurization, but it is possible to isolate this element and return it to milk or yogurt. The advantage of acidophilus milk and acidophilus yogurt is their ability to help those who have a low tolerance to the milk sugar lactose (making it difficult or impossible for them to digest milk without dietary upset) in that the bacteria help consume the lactose during the digestive process.
