  • About
These apples originated in the mid-1800s in Australia, where they were developed—believe it or not—by a grandmother with the family name of Smith! Granny Smith apples have been cultivated in the United States for only about 30 years. If left to ripen properly, they are among the best all-around apples on the market and an excellent choice for your garden. They are slightly squat, usually fairly large, and have a dark green skin that, surprisingly, stays dark even when the apples are fully ripe. Season: Year round.
