This green to golden apple dates back to the sixteenth century, when it originated in France. It has many hybrids, the most common, in the United States, being the Newton Pippin and, more recently, the Ribston. The Cox Orange Pippin is very popular in Europe. Season: Fall to early spring, but one variety or another can often be found all year.
