  • About

One of the most famous of all dessert apples in France, this variety is said to have thrived in the gardens of Louis XIII in Orleans, France. Excellent for eating as is, this apple has more than twice as much vitamin C as an orange, and it is a perfect choice for a classic French tarte aux pommes. Season: Mid-fall through spring, but you are unlikely to find this variety in the market; it is almost exclusively a home garden apple.
