Nijisseiki

These pears come from Japan and are the most common commercial Asian pear variety. They are also called Twentieth Century. The fruit is roundish but squat and often lopsided, with a greenish-yellow skin that is tender and smooth. The flesh is pure white and slightly tart. These ripen in early September.
