It is generally accepted that these are a cross between red raspberries and wild blackberries, although some say loganberries are a separate species altogether. They take their name from the man who first discovered or recognized them, a California judge named J. H. Logan. They are one of the oldest of the blackberry hybrids. The fruit is long, large, and dark red when mature. Late summer.
