A spherical citrus fruit developed by Father Clément in North Africa by crossing the tangerine and the Seville orange. Clementines are reddish orange in color, with a thin, firm, easily removable skin and juicy, sweet, and usually seedless flesh. They are eaten out of hand and utilized like oranges in many desserts and pastries. They are grown in Mediterranean countries and are in season from November to April, with their peak in December and January.
