(1) The name used for the liquid found inside a coconut. It is also called coconut water. (2) Unsweetened coconut milk, exported mainly from Thailand, is sold frozen and canned. It is usually found in grocery stores specializing in Asian food products or in the Asian food section of the supermarket. Coconut milk is made by grating fresh coconut meat and covering it with warm water. The mixture is left to sit and the liquid is then forced out through cheesecloth.
