A grape that produces a dry white wine with a crisp, spicy, and refreshing flavor. It is available in various levels of sweetness and dryness. It has a perfumelike yet crisp aroma. This grape variety is grown primarily in Alsace, France, as well as in Germany, the Tyrol, and in California. It is best enjoyed when it is young, as it does not age well past five years. The name is derived from the German word gewurz, which means spicy.
