An Italian eau-de-vie. Grappa has been produced commercially since the eighteenth century. It is distilled from wine press residue (grape skins and seeds) once the juice of the grapes has been extracted. This colorless, robust brandy has a high alcohol content. Aged grappas are also available with such complex additions as being aged in a variety of woods.
