Originated in France (also said to have first rooted in Belgium). This is a large fruit with green skin that turns to cream when the fruit ripens. It is distinguished by its stocky neck and mild-flavored, juicy, fine-textured flesh. It is best for eating out of hand and other fresh uses. Season: Midseason.
