  • About

An edible nut from a tree (genus Juglans) native to southeastern Europe. More commonly known today as the English walnut, these nuts have a sweet flavor that makes them desirable for enjoying alone or for using in candies, ice cream, and baked goods. The name Persian walnut stems from the fact that the nuts were originally used for trade in the Persian Empire. Many cultures in ancient times believed that the consumption of these walnuts would help to make couples fertile.
