Popcorn salt

  • About
A very fine-grain salt meant to cling to the oils or the butter used in making popcorn. Popcorn salt usually contains tricalcium phosphate, an anticaking additive used because of the fine grade of the salt grains. This addition gives the popcorn salt a slightly bitter, off flavor. As a result, popcorn salt is not recommended for cooking, simply for popcorn making. The flavor of popcorn salt is detected on the top center of the tongue and, in comparison to other varieties, has a mild salt flavor.
