  • About

A very sweet, thick sugar syrup originating in Great Britain. There are two types of treacle: regular treacle, which is also called dark treacle or black treacle, and light treacle, which is usually known as golden syrup. Treacle is similar to molasses but it undergoes more refinement. Dark treacle can be substituted for molasses. Treacle is used in making puddings and baked goods, where it adds moisture as well as a distinctive sweet flavor.
