Spatulas are made from any of a variety of materials, including rubber, stainless steel, plastic and plastic composites, silicone, and wood. They vary widely in shape and size, depending on their purpose, which is generally transferring, smoothing, or scraping. In the pastry kitchen, several types of spatulas are used. See also Scraper.
