Chayote, christophine, pear-shape (Sechium edule), also known as mirliton

The roundish or pear-shaped vegetable of a climbing plant which grows extensively in the Caribbean and to some extent in Florida and Louisiana. The flesh is delicately flavored and similar to summer squash.
