Lechosa, papaw, papaya (Carica papaya)

The fruit of a tropical soft-stemmed tree. Its flavor is very similar to that of a melon. The green fruit is used in preserves. When ripe, the yellow flesh is sweet and musky, and is delicious eaten raw. Its high content of papain enzyme, similar to pepsin, makes it valuable for its digestant action.
