Any Edistonian will kindly let you know that you can’t leave town without stopping at the local produce stand, George & Pink’s, serving sundries to Edisto Island, South Carolina, for over fifty years. “Start down Highway 174, then turn right on a dirt road called Eddingsville Beach Road. Follow the hand-painted signs and stock up once you get there,” says Steve Wenger, a cherished family acquaintance. This live oak–lined dirt road in particular, though, felt like a scene from a movie and set the tone for the experience that lay ahead.
