Zinc has been found to increase sexual desire by increasing levels of the sex hormones in the body. A deficiency in zinc can lead to an imbalance of oestrogen and progesterone, which may affect sexual desire. It may also hinder the body’s response to stress, which may affect sexual stamina. Zinc is thought to be at its highest levels in the prostate gland. Excellent sources include red meat, legumes, seeds, cashews and almonds.
