Perennial. There are endless varieties of mint—and subvarieties, hybrids, etc. The, variations of spearmint are the most interesting in the kitchen—the French hardly use it except as a tea for tired stomachs; they consider the English affection for this herb an aberration. Arab and Middle Eastern cooking often makes interesting use of mint.
