It is an annual succulent in the family Portulaceae that can reach 40 cms in height. It is of a slightly sour and salty taste; it is eaten throughout much of Europe and Asia.
Purslane contains more omega 3 than any other leafy vegetable plant. It also contains vitamins C, B, carotene oils as well as dietary minerals, such as Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium and Iron.
