Here’s How to Peel a Pummelo

  • About
  1. Trim off the ends of the pummelo, cutting right up to the edge of the flesh without cutting through it (you may have to shave off a few slices of the thick skin to find out how deep to cut).
  2. Without cutting into the flesh, score four to six lines around the perimeter of the fruit from top to bottom using a knife.
  3. Use your thumb to pry back the skin piece by piece, starting at the top or bottom.
  4. Break the fruit apart into individual sections. Then peel away the membrane of each segment to reveal the glistening fruit segment inside.

    Serve as is, or if it is dry enough, pull apart the individual pulp pods and use for the Pummelo Salad.
