Using Pearl Onions

Whole pearl onions are sometimes added to soups for decorative effect. If you’re using a lot of them, peeling them can be a bit tedious. A good trick: plunge them into boiling water for 1 minute, drain them, and rinse them with cold water. Once peeled, all they need is 10 or 15 minutes of simmering in the soup to finish cooking.
