Scaling fish can be very messy as the sticky scales fly everywhere, this method using a plastic bag makes it much easier to clean up after wards.
  1. Holding the fish by the tail, place it inside a plastic bag. Run the back of a butter knife (or fish scaler) along the skin to dislodge the scales.

  2. Remove the fish from the bag and wipe any remaining scales off with a clean, damp cloth.
