Scrubbing & Debearding Mussels

  • About
  1. Scrub two mussels together under cold running water to remove any barnacles from the shell.

     

  2. Hold the shell firmly closed and tug sharply on the ‘beard’, pulling it away from the pointy end of the shell. Alternatively, cook mussels with the beards on and remove them once the shells have opened.
