I stock whole, sliced and ground nuts: pecans, walnuts, almonds and hazelnuts. Keep them in airtight containers in your freezer to keep them fresh. Pine nuts are a good, cheap alternative when other nuts can be too pricey. I find you can often switch nuts in recipes without making too many adjustments.
