One of the keys to successful baking lies in preparing the tins before you start mixing the ingredients. Good quality non-stick tins need no preparation unless they are to be used for a rich fruit cake, which will need protection from the long baking with 1 or 2 sheets of greaseproof paper inside the tin, between the tin and cake mixture.
For really easy turning out, line the base of the tin with a disc of paper. Non-stick baking parchment needs no greasing but greaseproof paper does; secure it in the tin with a little oil or butter.
