Both small and hand-held and large tabletop versions are available. A hand-held mixer is ideal for beating mixtures over the heat on top of the stove, as well as for light mixtures such as whipping cream. Choose a mixer with several speeds for maximum control. Tabletop mixers, although more bulky, efficiently cream large quantities of cake or pudding mixtures and knead bread dough if they have a bread hook. These mixers also have many attachments available for mincing, shredding, extracting juice, and so on.
