For this French ‘nectar of the gods’, steep 300ml (1¼ cups) eau de vie or vodka with 1 tablespoon of coriander seeds and another of aniseed, along with 3 cloves and a cinnamon stick. Strain after a month then add 300ml (1¼ cups) sugar syrup and 300ml (1¼ cups) white wine. Bottle and mature for another 2 to 3 months. Drink as an aperitif.
