Cardamine hirsuta The first worthwhile edible plant to be found in the beginning of the year, it is an annual herb common throughout the British Isles. It occurs on bare ground (particularly on the bare soil of flower beds), in gardens and on ploughed arable fields and it can also be found on rocks, screes, walls etc. It flowers from March to September but the leaves can be eaten from October until May.
