Toast nuts on a baking tray in a 150°C oven for 5-20 minutes, depending on the size of the nuts, until golden (pine nuts will take about 5 minutes, whereas almonds will take 15-20 minutes). Stir them every 5 minutes or so to make sure they colour evenly. Nuts can also be toasted in a dry frying pan or with a little vegetable oil over a low heat and stirred constantly until golden. Toast sesame seeds in a dry frying pan until golden, or on an oven tray in a 150°C oven for a few minutes - but watch them closely!
