website that houses the world’s largest collection of tasting notes, more than 5 million by 2015. This fully searchable database is free to use (a donation is optional) and is made up of contributions from well over 300,000 mainly amateur users all over the globe. It was set up in 2003 by Eric LeVine, then employed by Microsoft, as a personal cellar-management tool but the social media implications rapidly became apparent. Today wine lovers enjoy sharing impressions and keeping track of their own wine collections and those of others. The site is integrated with those of a host of wine writers.
