Chasan, cross of Palomino (known in France as listán) and Chardonnay vines made under inra auspices by French ampelographer Paul Truel. The resulting wine bears a lightweight imprint of Chardonnay while the vine buds early. It is planted on a limited scale in the Midi, particularly in the Aude département, and France’s total plantings were more than 660 ha/1,630 acres by 2011.
