Classic, official German wine designation introduced in 2000, though little used outside Germany, for dry-tasting wines (maximum 15 g/l residual sugar) vinified from traditional grape varieties, harvested at at least 12% potential alcohol (11.5% in the Mosel). See also german wine law. Not to be confused with the term klassik as used (principally) in austria.
