Pigato, characterful white grape variety producing distinctively flavoured varietal wines in the north west Italian region of liguria. dna profiling showed that Pigato and vermentino, both long-established in Liguria, and favorita cultivated in Piemonte, are all genetically identical. The Italian vine census of 2010 distinguishes between them and found 264 ha/652 acres of Pigato Bianco.
