Temperature is widely considered the most important climatological factor affecting grapevines, although others such as sunlight, rainfall, humidity, and wind are also important. Gladstones comprehensively reviews the role of temperature in viticulture. Temperature records are available from climate recording stations, and modern statistical procedures allow the calculation of temperatures between station locations that may be more representative of actual vineyard sites (see topography, mesoclimate, climate change).
