VDQS, or Vin Délimité de Qualité Supérieure, was France’s minuscule interim wine quality designation between vin de pays and appellation contrôlée, which accounted for less than 1% of the nation’s wine production. The VDQS category was scrapped after the 2010 vintage and most have been promoted to aoc.
