Viosinho, distinctive white variety producing some fine, aromatic white wines, especially at higher elevations, in the douro and Trás-os-Montes. Traditionally a constituent of white port, Viosinho is now also used to make unfortified wines and, partly because of its low yields and tendency to oxidize, it is generally blended with rabigato and gouveio (Godello). Total plantings were 783 ha/1,934 acres in 2012.
