Set out a dish of high-season berries and three small bowls: one with white sugar, one with coarsely ground black pepper and the final one with a puddle of balsamic vinegar. Dip the strawberries into the bowls as you eat, enjoying the contrast of sweet, sour and rounding pepper heat.
