The Shaadi Menu

I began to focus my attention on the things I could control, like what I would wear for my shaadi and, more importantly, what would be on the menu. Food was one of the main attractions at Pakistani weddings, and so I knew at least here I’d have some control over choices. Mummy and I had decided that the mehndi would take place in Nani Mummy’s garden, and the wedding venue would be the ballroom at the Sheraton. I picked up the menu we had received from the caterers and began ticking off my choices:
