Around the World in 80 Dishes: Classic Recipes from the World's Favourite Chefs

  • About

Street brawler, poet, journalist, athlete, littérateur, humorist, dramatist, novelist, adventurer and chef, Daniel O’Connell founded the great San Francisco Bohemian Club the year that Fogg arrives in town. I suspect that these two men, who lived lives rich in food, drink and travel, would have got on rather well. In 1891, O’Connell published The Inner Man: Good Things to Eat and Drink and Where to Get Them, his guide to the very best edibles of his city. Known for his delicate cookery, O’Connell made dishes that were described as odes, madrigals and hymns.
