Everyday Treats to us are bakes that are either super simple to make, or a little (but only a little) less indulgent than the cakes in other chapters.
Some are bakes you could tackle midweek without too much stress, like the Caramel Brownie, the Coconut, Chilli & Lime Cake or the Double Chocolate Muffin: all one-bowl recipes that just need a bit of light stirring. Some are everyday sort of bakes given a Bad Girl twist, like the Milk Chocolate ‘Digestive’ Biscuits, Giant Lemon Drizzles or Pimped-up Shortbread. Others — like the tiffin, Salted Caramel Crumble Bar or Raspberry & White Chocolate Cookie Bars — are perfect for a bake sale, work celebration or feeding a crowd. The loaves — both the Cranberry, Almond and Yoghurt and the Blueberry, Coconut and Lime — I’ve tagged as ‘everyday’ because they are plain, undecorated and simple to look at. Don’t be fooled by their appearance though; they are packed with flavour and are most definitely indulgent.
