There are a few more miscellaneous tools that you will find to be essential in your kitchen. One tool that I didn’t start using until culinary school is a bench knife. Now it is one of my most-used kitchen tools for things like cutting dough, transferring items to baking sheets, smoothing icing on a cake, and cleaning scraps of dough off my counter.

  • Rolling pin
  • Cooling rack
  • Pastry blender
  • * Bench knife
  • * Bowl scraper
  • * Pastry brush
  • * Offset spatula
  • * Portioning scoops (a.k.a. dishers): 1 oz./30 ml for cookies, 1.5 oz./45 ml for cupcakes, muffins, and ice cream
