It’s time to discuss the most important lesson I learned in culinary school, which was the lesson of “Mise en Place.” Mise en place translates to mean “putting in place” or “everything in its place.” In the culinary world, it is a general guiding principle for how you prepare yourself in the kitchen.

It means starting with a clean workspace, getting all of your ingredients measured out, having all of your tools ready, and fully reading through the recipe. I can’t even begin to guess how many times this lesson was drilled into our heads in school.
