Drive through the centre of the Ile de Ré towards the north of the island and you come across an oyster farmer’s cabin with this lovely bistro attached to it, serving seafood in what can only be described as a cabin with a strong tented-structure attached. The view across the flat oyster beds on the east side of the island is amazing. This is Fiers d’Ars — a really beautiful, slightly haunted landscape.
