Let’s have a butcher’s...

... not a butcher’s hook, but a butcher’s shop. In early 2005, we took over Nicholson’s of Helmsley, a third generation of family butchers who have handed down their knowledge and experience since 1935. The Nicholson family took over what had become the butchers at 18 Market Place, on the site of a former coaching inn, The Red Lion. This is now Pern’s of Helmsley.

We have a number of farmers who supply the butchers. They supply the carcasses already prepped and broken down into manageable joints and pieces. In turn we break it down further, and then it’s on to its final destination, with a bit of this and that to finish it off, for our guests dining at The Star.
