I’m a bit of a shopping nomad. I’m all for shopping the world food aisles in the supermarket and whatever international deli I happen to be passing for cans and jars of weird and wonderful pastes, pickles or preserves; also for packets of dried pasta, beans, fruits. I know they’ll keep well and be there for whenever I fancy a bit of kitchen experimentation. But I also know that these things can languish if you don’t know what to do with them. In this section you’ll find a very brief summary of some of the tasty but maybe more unusual ingredients I’ve used in this book, and some ideas for where else you might use them.
