Most recipes in this book will produce beer ranging from 4% to 5.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), but there are too many random factors to give exact percentages for each beer. To find out the strength of your brews youโll need to take a hydrometer reading before adding yeast, and another before bottling. There are numerous online calculators that use these figures to determine your beerโs ABV percentage, but as a guide weโve given you three examples:
- Original gravity โ 1.040; final gravity โ 1.010; alcohol โ 3.94%
- Original gravity โ 1.045; final gravity โ 1.010; alcohol โ 4.59%
- Original gravity โ 1.050; final gravity โ 1.010; alcohol โ 5.25%
